B2B publisher Prime Creative Media has acquired the Big Rigs National Road Transport Newspaper from News Corp Australia.
The Big Rigs National Road Transport Newspaper, which has been covering the transport industry for the past 28 years, was part of a number of closures to News Corp’s regional newspapers following a restructure of its publishing arm.
“The sale follows an extensive review of our portfolio to simplify our operations to better serve our clients, consistent with our global strategy. We wish the new owners all the very best,” a News Corp spokesperson told Mumbrella.
Prime said that the grassroots publication served a loyal audience Australia-wide and had a strong heritage and legacy in the transport industry. This was demonstrated by its audience as the Big Rigs team was inundated with farewells and well wishes from its audience.
The newspaper also said farewell via a 92-page final edition on its digital platform, which featured advertiser tributes, and ‘best of’ content. It’s hard to find a spread within the edition that doesn’t have advertising support.
“We are so humbled to be able to build upon the great work of this publication. It has served as a trusted source for the transport industry for almost three decades, and fits ideally with our purpose of growing individuals, organisations, and industries,” said John Murphy, CEO Prime Creative Media.
The fortnightly publication is distributed for free at key transportation points, businesses, organisations and events around Australia, as well as through paid subscriptions.
With a monthly circulation of 56,982, and an online audience of 198,876 unique visitors per month, the masthead provides important news, technical knowledge, educational articles, industry updates, and welcomed entertainment.
“We will be putting additional resources into the newspaper, website and electronic newsletter, building upon its current multi-platform offering,” said Murphy.
Prime has also said that it will be supported in this work with some of the well-known identities of the existing Big Rigs Team, as well as the additional of experienced transport media professionals.
“The transport industry is such a critical component of Australia’s economy, and will be a guiding force in our nation’s recovery. We are so proud to serve this industry with such a valued publication.”
With offices in both Melbourne and Sydney, Prime Creative Media produces more than 27 mastheads, 80+ digital platforms, and dozens of industry events. It has seven existing transport and logistics brands.
