NME Australia to launch print edition in May

British entertainment magazine NME will launch its new Australian monthly print magazine in May, despite the impact of the COVID-19 isolation restrictions.

The introduction of the NME Australia print magazine follows the launch of the NME.com/Australia website in December 2019.

The magazine will include interviews, reviews and essays about music and movies, TV and gaming.

Established in 1952, the entertainment magazine has been a defining voice in music and pop culture. In mid-2019, NME was sold by TI Media to the Singapore-based Bandlab Technologies, a collective of global music brands including magazines, websites, social music platforms, technologies and equipment manufacturers.

CEO of BandLab Technologies Meng Ru Kuok says “Since the launch of our NME Australia site in December 2019, we’ve seen huge interest from fans, artists and the music industry, with half a million monthly Australian readers visiting NME.com/Australia for their music and pop culture fix.

“While the print edition in the UK is still on hiatus, we decided there was nowhere better to re-introduce print than Australia.

“It’s a big country with one of the most dynamic music scenes in the world right now, and of course, there’s no better time than now, when people are seeking compelling content, engaging news and home-based entertainment.”

Bandlab says that it has assembled a ‘supergroup’ of Aussie music and pop culture writers, supported by its editorial teams in Singapore and London.
