ADG’s Medical Observer monthly print edition now digital-only

B2B healthcare publisher Australian Doctor Group (ADG) is moving its monthly masthead Medical Observer to digital-only next month to meet growing online demand.

ADG said that the move comes after “rapid growth in popularity of the masthead’s digital offering following the launch of ADG’s new supersite AusDoc.PLUS five months ago”.

AusDoc.PLUS brings together all of ADG’s healthcare titles under the one online banner, including Australian Doctor, Medical Observer, How to Treat, 6minutes, Specialist Updates and Pharmacy News.

The creation of the ‘mega-site’ allowed ADG to direct its 75,000 subscribers across all titles to the one online portal, which the Group describes as “the largest and most comprehensive medical news and education website for doctors and healthcare professionals”.

At the time of its launch, ADG Managing Director Bryn McGeever said “We’re investing heavily in our digital capabilities,” stating that ADG had seen a 51 per cent increase in mobile sessions and a 32 per cent increase in website traffic over the last two years.

Since AusDoc.PLUS was created, ADG said that the number of doctors reading Medical Observer online has increased 65 per cent, with an additional 16,000 newsletters being sent out each month to subscribers.

As doctors increasingly shift online, Medical Observer, and ADG, are moving with them, said ADG Managing Director Bryn McGeever.

“This move allows us to continue to invest in our digital offering providing our readers with up-to-date news, opinion and education, anywhere, anytime and on any device,” said McGeever.

ADG publishes a number of print and digital titles for healthcare professionals. The Group describes itself as “transitioning from a traditional print publisher to become a true multimedia organisation”.
