Momentum Media has launched a new digital platform, Cyber Security Connect, to report on the latest developments in this innovative sector.
Cyber Security Connect is the latest in a growing stable of online platforms for Momentum Media and comes as the Australian government ramps up its cyber security efforts. The platform will publish the latest news, insights and analysis from the complex world of cyber security and support those who are working hard to create a more digitally secure future for Australia.
“With the federal government earmarking $1.67 billion over the coming decade to support a more secure cyber future for Australia, there’s never been a more crucial time to provide dedicated information to Australia’s growing cyber security sector,” said William Magee, Director Commercial Growth – Defence and Security at Momentum Media.
“Our intelligence will not only deliver important insights to cyber and IT professionals, but also be of use to those concerned about growing threats to their cyber security – from governments through to small-to-medium enterprises.”
The Cyber Security Connect brand is being managed by Momentum Media’s Defence & Security team of dedicated editors, experienced reporters and commercial managers.
“Our Cyber Security Connect team brings with them a deep knowledge of the cyber security space, having provided actionable news updates on the cyber, defence and space industries for some time,” said Magee.
The launch of Cyber Security Connect comes as the impact of malicious cyber security breaches on governments and businesses only continues to increase. According to Momentum Media, recent research has found a four-fold increase in the cost to businesses from phishing attacks in the past four years, while another reported a 38 per cent increase in web application attacks on the financial services industry between January and June 2021. At the same time, a spike in ransomware attacks prompted the government to issue a warning to individuals and organisations at risk of being exploited.
“With so much private information and intellectual property at risk in our increasingly digital world, a strong and competitive cyber security sector will underpin the prosperity of numerous industries for years to come as well as ensure peace of mind for all Australians,” Magee said.
“We’re excited to be able to support crucial developments in cyber security through our news and insights.”
Founded in 2006, Momentum Media has grown from two people and one brand to over 140 staff and 25 brands today, achieving annual revenue growth of 25 per cent since inception.
