The Rambler Co launches Kickstarter campaign to print unique travel publication

New independent media company The Rambler Co is launching an Australian travel publication that takes a personal approach to the art of travel journalism.

The Rambler Co’s limited run coffee table series will showcase a different region of Australia in each edition, starting with Queensland’s Tropical North.

Travel photographer and videographer James Vodicka began The Rambler Co to feature local communities, hidden spots off the beaten track, guides and itineraries and beautiful imagery of Australia’s landscapes.

The first edition features articles on picking exotic fruits in the gardens of local growers, sleeping beneath an ochre monolist at a luxury outback lodge, tasting award-winning gin, and discovering ancient cave systems.

It is intended that the magazines will be a series of collectibles that delve deeper into the heart of each location and take a personal approach to the art of travel journalism.

The Ramble Co series will feature the work of Australia’s top travel content creators and storytellers, focusing on evergreen content showcasing the people, places and experiences of each region.

“Too beautiful to throw away, the series will be printed on thick, heavy paper with a premium matte finish. You’ll want to keep it on your coffee table, or fill it with scribblings and stow it in your travel bag for inspiration on the road,” Vodicka says on his Kickstarter page.

Vodicka has launched the Kickstarter campaign to fund the printing costs of the first edition and the supporting writers, photographers and designers.

“Working with designers, artists, writers and photographers from all over the country, our first edition is almost ready to be published. We just need your help to get it across the line,” says Vodicka in the Kickstarter campaign.

“As a new, independent publisher, the road ahead isn’t easy, but with your support we’re hoping we can bring you the first edition of many in the Rambler Travel Series.”

The majority of the Kickstarter funds raised will go towards the printing costs of the first edition. The publication will be printed on thick, premium uncoated paper to withstand the “wear and tear of Aussie travel”.

Vodicka is a well-known creative in the travel industry. Since 2018, he has worked as a freelance for tourism boards and commercial brands in Australia and beyond.

The Kickstarter campaign ends on 3 June 2021, and at the time of writing was halfway toward its goal.
