ADG achieves top engagement results in MPAA readership survey

Australian Doctor Group (ADG) has taken out the number 1 position in both digital and print for GP reach and engagement, according to the latest  Medical Publishers Association of Australia (MPAA) readership survey.

The survey found that 48.4 per cent of GPs visited the group’s newly released supersite, AusDoc.PLUS, each month, 20.1 percentage points clear of Australian Journal of General Practice, its nearest digital competitor.

ADG’s printed Australian Doctor weekly magazine also maintained prime position among GPs, topping its competitors in readership, pages read per issue and frequency of read.

The annual survey conducted by the Medical Publishers Association targeted 7,400 GPs, with 840 GP respondents.

The survey asked GPs about their reading habits of Australian Doctor, Medical Observer, Medical Republic, Medical Journal of Australia, Medicine Today and the Australian Journal of General Practice.

ADG Managing Director Bryn McGeever said the results are testament to the power of the business’s multi-channel offering.

“With more than 41,000 AHPRA-verified prescribers, our reach and engagement across our brands continues to grow in all channels that count to both our audience and clients,” he said.

“We have and will continue to provide innovative and effective ways for our clients to reach this engaged GP audience, who are amongst the highest prescribers in the country.

“We understand change is here, and ADG will continue to embrace and drive it.”

ADG’s recently created AusDoc.PLUS mega-site brings together all of ADG’s healthcare titles under the one online banner, including Australian Doctor, Medical Observer, How to Treat, 6minutes, Specialist Updates and Pharmacy News.

The creation of the ‘mega-site’ allowed ADG to direct its 75,000 subscribers across all titles to the one online portal, which the group describes as “the largest and most comprehensive medical news and education website for doctors and healthcare professionals”.

Who is the MPAA?

The Medical Publishers Association of Australia (MPAA) is the governing body of the media groups that produce media for doctors. It has conducted readership research on print titles for nearly 40 years. In 2017, the MPAA included digital assets within their research.
