Emprise Group launches new digital tool CAMPERX

Outdoor experience publisher Emprise Group has launched CAMPERX, a new planning tool for exploring regional Australia, to complement its camping and caravanning magazine titles and events, and Hema Maps brand.

Emprise Group publishes eight magazine titles focused on outdoor adventure and regional tourism in addition to maps, atlases, guides and digital navigation products. The group also produces events, GPS and data licensing, custom products, and content strategy.

Emprise said that the CAMPERX tool has been designed as the “ultimate touring companion”, combining the best maps from Hema Maps including remote roads and off-road tracks, a comprehensive lists of campsites and caravan parks, and trip planning and navigation tools that are accessible online or offline in the remotest parts of Australia.

The publisher said that CAMPERX is the first stand-alone app to be launched off the HemaX platform.

“HemaX is a cutting edge technology stack which will allow consumers to access and interact with the richest information (including maps) for regional touring in Australia, on any device,” the company said.

Emprise CEO Rob Gallagher said “For the past five years working in the regional tourism space, I have had people talk to me about the ‘holy grail’ of offline, interactive trip planning supported by rich content. I am very proud to say that HemaX will deliver on that promise and CAMPERX is the first launch of many new products.”

“The whole concept of HemaX is to bring the best content, the best maps and the best technology together to help grow regional tourism. We will work in close collaboration with the regions and their communities and help bring visitation back once the impact of this tragic year is behind us.”

The CAMPERX tool features more than 100,000 points of interest, and features regularly updated information about Australia’s campgrounds, holiday parks, national parks, rest stops, dump points and will provide full online booking capability in future releases to make booking while on the road easier.

Gallagher said he is aware that CAMPERX is being launched amidst a challenging time for the local industry, with travel heavily impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The restrictions on travel and the closure of campsites and national parks is something we are acutely aware of and it is having a demonstrable impact on communities, businesses and families around Australia.

“By launching today we hope that the app can be used in the comfort of the lounge room to plan the next big adventure, whenever that is safe to do.”

CAMPERX is available in the Apple Store and Google Play Store.
