The Australian Doctor Group has launched a collaboration feature on its Australian Doctor website (AusDoc).
The Australian Doctor Group’s AusDoc website now provides its usual news, opinion, and clinical updates plus an area where doctors can connect and collaborate with colleagues.
Doctors that use the AusDoc website can choose to follow and connect with others in the AusDoc community and network safely using an end-to-end encrypted messaging system.
The new system allows those using the function to send connection invites to other members. Once connected, users can send private messages via an Inbox function. Users can also choose to ‘Follow’ users and receive notifications when they publish new articles, posts or comments.
The Inbox function also serves as a port where the AusDoc team sends its users notifications about new articles and new website features.
A collaboration feature is also planned, which will allow doctors to share a patient case, inviting others in their network to give their opinion.
“We believe doctors are at the centre of a strong and sustainable healthcare system and society, that they are the gatekeepers of the system and guardians of the health of the people within it.
“We also believe that medicine will become even more collaborative in the future than it is today and that a connected community – where doctors can stay up-to-date, discuss the latest topics, safely communicate with each other and share experiences – will benefit all,” the publisher said.
The Group said that it has been investing heavily in its data and digital capabilities for the past decade, accelerating its digital and product investment by more than $2 million in this year alone.
A personalised news feed feature has already been rolled out on the website, allowing doctors to tailor their newsfeed to topics of interest. This will now also include articles from journalists and contributing authors that users choose to follow.
The Australian Doctor Group is currently working on a mobile app for the website which is expected to be live over the next few months.
The Group launched the AusDoc website in 2019, bringing together a number of its healthcare titles under the one online banner, including Australian Doctor, Medical Observer, How to Treat, 6minutes, Specialist Updates and Pharmacy News.
The creation of the ‘mega-site’ allowed the Australian Doctor Group to direct its 75,000 subscribers across all titles to the one online portal, which the Group described as “the largest and most comprehensive medical news and education website for doctors and healthcare professionals”.
